Wisconsin DOT issues advisory on use of rumble strips
Have you ever been riding along on a nice country highway when you suddenly encounter rumble strips across the entire roadway? Did you think that seemed unsafe for bicyclists? You are correct! The Wisconsin DOT has just issued an advisory on installing rumble strips in such a manner that they are compatible with bicycle use. While the document is a little technical, it may be good to share with your local county highway planner or commissioner.

Bike Fed & WisDOT partner on Share & Be Aware
The Bike Fed's Share & Be Aware program will reach more people in 2011 thanks to a state and federal grant announced October 27 by the governor's office. We'll work with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Bureau of Transportation Safety to teach bicyclists and motorists throughout the state about sharing the road.
For more information on Share & Be Aware, read the press release, and check out the Share & Be Aware section of our website for a quick orientation to the rules of the road.
